“Tackling the problem of the uninsured is not only about expanding coverage, it’s about addressing this hidden tax on health-care that Californians can no longer afford,” stated Gov. Schwarzenegger. “I know if we work together, we can make health care more affordable, accessible and equitable.”
And Here’s Video of the Event.
It is Ridiculous to talk about Health and what it means to be healthy, without bringing up the dismal state of the Health Care System in this country.
I applaud my Buff Brother for taking this on in the key language of Conservatives … Financial.

“If you’ve never had a messy kitchen, you’ve probably never had a home-cooked meal.”–Rabbi Irwin Kula.
Real life is inherently messy, and yet we live in a society obsessed with cleanliness and tidiness. This is in-spite of the fact that the research suggests that those who are more successful, more intelligent, and better parents are by nature more messy, have more clutter in their closets, and more papers strewn on their desks.
I don’t mean “hobo” messy, but I do mean SEEMINGLY disorganized. Think of Einstein. For that matter, think of ANY Genius of renown. The above picture is of Francis Bacon’s Studio. He is without doubt one of the greatest Painters of the 20th Century and his place of creation is anything but tidy.
Part of what it means to be healthy, is accepting life as it is. Try to Control ONLY those things that are controllable, no more. Any attempt to do so will only lead to failure, and failure causes undue stress. Stress causes Cancer, Heart Disease, and a whole myriad of other problems.
So get in the kitchen, make a mess, and have a good meal. Your heart and mind will thank you.

Eighty percent of success is showing up.–Woody Allen
If you can make it to the gym, even if you don’t feel at your best, your body will thank you.
Have your morning Shake even though you REALLY want a muffin and coffee.
Goto bed on time, and skip that last show on the tube.
Your small decisions, made durring those small moments of your life, will determine your success or failure.

Now, I eat pretty badly. I’m on the SNIKTA diet, which is the Atkins diet in reverse: 100% carbs. Three bowls of sugared cereal for breakfast, cookies for lunch, and a hoagie roll for dinner. You know what’s the bread of life? Bread. That’s why they call it that. So if anyone’s colon needed cleansing, it was mine. And possibly James Lipton’s. I’ll bet that guy’s butt has seen more action than a Korean bathhouse.–John Hargrave
Bread is good. Cookies are good. I love Captain Crunch cereal … it’s my Favorite cereal of all time! But, I love my health more.
Learning limits, and how to restructure your life is the hardest part of any diet. A good plan that works for most of my clients is a strict 6 days per week, with one cheat day (eg. Sunday). On that cheat day you can eat ANYTHING you want. Pig out. Eat like James Lipton.

If you can’t touch your fingers together with the over-under test (top), I want you to immediately stop all upper body training … Yes, that’s right, all upper body training.
–Chad Waterbury
What he’s worried about here is further damage to your shoulder complex. And he’s right. I know that hurts to hear … especially for you men.
He advises a couple of exercises to cure you, along with daily attemps at the stretch above.
DB (dumbbell) external rotation,
and
the Push-Up Plus (see my post on this here)
I fully agree.
In fact with most clients, I don’t allow them to do ANY upper body work until they’ve gone through a few weeks of doing the Push-Up Plus, and Wide Grip Pull Ups.
Once a person can do a couple sets of 20 for each, then it’s time for weights. But, I still have them do them as a warm up.

Quote:
“In general, Mankind, since the improvement of cookery, eat about twice as much as nature requires.” — Benjamin Franklin, from The Art of Procuring Pleasant Dreams.
If you want to eat more, then increase your need for food. With my female clients, I often surprise them by how many calories a day I ask them to consume. On average, my clients DIET at 1,800 to 2,000 calories/day.
Of course, these calories come largely from high quality foods, like Chicken, Meat, Vegetables, Milk, Fruit, and high fiber carbs. But, if your need is high, you have more leeway than the average Jane to indulge in a slice of pie, or have a bowl of ice-cream.
Exercise provides you freedom.
