There is no stagnation. You are either training yourself to be better or you are being trained to be worse. Just as your muscles are either getting stronger or weaker — “maintenance” is a myth —, your character and the strength of your mind are either growing stronger or weaker.
We are all nothing but primates. But you have potential. To reach it, you must train it. That’s very good news. Because it means you have power to affect your life, and the lives of others, for the better.
Now go lift something heavy,
