Here’s what Olympic Weightlifter, Chris, had to say about one of my contest-prep programs:
This is the 4th meet I’ve prepped for using the 4-Week peaking program from the old Iron Samurai blog. Results speak for themselves: Comp PR 127kg snatch, lifetime PR 160kg clean and jerk. PR 287kg total and qualified for American Open! Simple and effective, you guys rock! (That’s me on the left, 2nd place in the 105+ at the Elmira Open yesterday)
Wow! He did fantastic. This is clearly more a testament to the work he has put in than anything I’ve done. But there is a lesson in here I wish more people would take seriously.
Every time I do a seminar, I start out by saying that most people in the room will not ACTUALLY put into practice a single thing they learn today.
But there is always that one guy or girl who we see a year (or more) later in a competition who is kicking ass. Whenever I go up and ask them what they’ve been doing, the standard response is, “I don’t know. I’ve just been practicing what you told me.”
There are no secrets. If you take the simple stuff, the basics, the fundamentals, and ACTUALLY apply them, you’ll go very far. That’s not up to me. That’s all you, bro.
Chris does the work, and the results speak for themselves. You can do the same. Nothing is stopping you.
Great work Chris!
Now go lift something heavy,
PS. The photo is by Chris Ryan, he’s the one of the left!
