First, the rant…
I really hate Valentines day.
It’s cheesy, generic, and isn’t so much about romantic love, as it is about the watering down of it.
(Don’t get me wrong, the number 14 – the totally arbitrary date of V-day – IS romantic. It’s the double of my favorite prime. It’s like 7 found it’s soul mate and they lived happily ever after… Don’t judge, I’m a math guy.)
I hate Valentines Day precisely BECAUSE I’m a romantic.
I want to cherish and celebrate those things I have with someone that are unique to us, no matter how random they may seem to anyone else.
If my girl and I have a thing for ducks and green covers and kissing while brushing our teeth, well… those are OUR things. And we aren’t switching to roses and diamonds just to make everyone else happy.
In other words, there is the Romance expressed on the surface (embodied in a gesture or object, whatever), and the underlying reasons for that expression in the first place, and how the two of you see all of that in context.
True romance is hyper-personal.
Cultural pressure makes us feel like if we don’t give our romantic partner a V-day gift on that universally imposed date, then we clearly don’t love them.
And cultural pressure also dictates that we give them a gift that fits within the very small, clear boundaries set forth in front of you.
Paint by numbers romance. That’s the opposite of true romance: Impersonal and forced.
I’d rather avoid that stupid “holiday” outright, and be romantic with the person I’m in love with every day on our own terms, thank you.
Speaking of romance …
ROMANCING THE CLEAN: MONDAY
You spoke, I listened!
I asked you which eBook I should finish next, and you chose a beginners guide to Clean Technique. (Which is the 3rd – and final – installment of my Romancing the Bar Trilogy.)
So… this week, I’ve been hammering away on it, and making great progress.
I’ll be putting the final touches on it this weekend and I will release it on Monday!
To celebrate this auspicious occasion I’m going to do two things.
First, on Saturday and Sunday I will be giving you 2 “How To Clean” tips & tricks videos on some points that are subtle in concept, but profound in application:
Video 1: How To Have A Bigger Rack Than Dolly Parton
Video 2: When I Think About Cleans, I Touch Myself
The second cool thing I’m doing to celebrate is a “Pre-Release Trilogy Sale”.
Starting today, and ending Monday morning when the book is released… you can get the entire Trilogy:
- Romancing the Snatch
- Romancing the Jerk
- Romancing the Clean
For a whopping 50% off if you go here:
You’ll get to download (instantly) the first two, and you’ll be emailed a secret download link to the clean book on Monday.
Now go lift something heavy,
